The following sites offer reliable cardiovascular and healthy living information and have been reviewed by Iowa Heart physicians and staff. If you can’t find the information you’re looking for on our site or any of these helpful sites, we encourage you to contact your Iowa Heart physician.

American College of Cardiology

CardioSmart is a patient education site of the American College of Cardiology. Their mission is to engage, inform, and empower patients to better prepare them for participation in their own care. They are committed to providing visitors to their site with accurate, un-biased information in an advertising-free environment.

American Heart Association

The American Heart Association's mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. That single purpose drives all they do. The need for our work is beyond question.

Society for Heart Attack Prevention and Eradication

The Society for Heart Attack Prevention and Eradication was formed to redefine preventive heart health.

Their work is guided by the active participation and support of world renowned cardiovascular specialists and researchers. SHAPE maintains an energetic, full time staff as well as a growing team of dedicated volunteers.

Their "Campaign to Eradicate Heart Attack" is designed to emphasize education, treatment and research. The goal is to move the industry from "sick care" to prevention or "health care," and eventually to a cure for the world's number one cause of death.

Texas Heart Institute

The mission of the Texas Heart Institute is to reduce the devastating toll of cardiovascular disease through innovative  programs in research, education and improved patient care.

Texas Heart Institute is a nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Denton A. Cooley in 1962. Its location in and affiliations with St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and Texas Children's Hospital assured that all age groups would be treated and freed the Institute of the burden of financing a health care facility.

UpToDate is the largest clinical community in the world dedicated to synthesizing knowledge for clinicians and patients.
