Washington, D.C. – MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center has been recognized as a Best Hospital for 2021-22 by U.S. News & World Report.
The annual Best Hospitals rankings and ratings, now in their 32nd year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.
MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center was ranked #1 in the Des Moines metro, and also ranked as a High Performing Hospital in abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, COPD, colon cancer surgery, diabetes, heart attack, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, kidney failure, knee replacement and stroke.
“We are extremely proud of the quality of care provided by our world class physicians, clinicians and colleagues on a daily basis,” said Karl Keeler, president of MercyOne Des Moines. “We are committed to our patients and their families, and we will continue our pursuit of developing innovative care processes to deliver the best quality personalized care available.”
The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
Best Hospitals was produced by U.S. News with RTI International, a leading research organization based in Research Triangle Park, N.C.
